Kaitlin and Josh’s Warm and Welcoming Winter Wedding

When you think “winter wedding”, you usually don’t envision warm temperatures, plentiful sunshine and stunning waterfront scenery, but Kaitlin and Josh’s February wedding at The Island House in beautiful John’s Island, South Carolina had all that and more. With a warm and welcoming winter color palette of burgundy, rose gold and blush with gray accents, their outdoor ceremony and open air reception celebrated the cozy and comforting aspects of winter without all that pesky cold! Their ceremony decor featured white wooden chairs, a bamboo arbor draped in ivory linen with greenery and burgundy disbud aisle accents that transitioned to the reception as cocktail table centerpieces.

Kaitlin says she’s never been a big fan of “poofy, Cinderella bridal gowns”, so she opted for a form fitting lace gown from Pronovious with an open back and long sleeves, the perfect look for a winter wedding. She paired it with a cathedral veil for added drama and looked absolutely stunning. For her bridesmaids, she chose charcoal dresses by Bill Levkoff. The gowns’ color not only made the burgundy and blush bouquets of disbuds, roses and lisianthus pop, but also enhanced the warm and cozy winter theme. The ladies looked fabulous in the different styles she chose for them.

Josh didn’t want to wear a tuxedo. He wanted something different and he found it at Jos. A Banks. He and his groomsmen looked dapper in their light navy suits. They wore grey vests paired burgundy ties to compliment the bridesmaids and Josh wore a floral tie with a burgundy background to stand out from his guys.

The reception decor featured cocktail tables draped in ivory linens with rose gold accents and dinner tables decked out with burgundy tablecloths, sparkling rose gold runners and centerpieces of round mirrors, gold votives and the bridesmaids’ bouquets, which were repurposed after the ceremony. Kaitlin says she brought a bit of sparkle to her decor because she didn’t want a “Pinterest-themed, rustic, outdoor wedding, we wanted an elegant touch.” She created the perfect setting for a cozy and inviting winter wedding where guests were treated to dinner and a s’mores bar before dancing the night away to the amazing sounds of Flash Back the Party Band. We’ll never look at winter weddings the same way again!
