Wedding trends from an event pro

Stephanie Hughes, owner of Diamond Events, wrote a great Top 10 Trends article for the upcoming issue of Brides & Weddings of Northern Virginia (to order your free copy and to register for our iTunes gift card giveaway, go to www.bridesandweddings.com). I thought I would share a few of her suggestions:

Let there be light: Centerpieces can provide more than just a beautiful floral visual for your guest tables. Combined with colored gels, water, vases and more, lit centerpieces are not as expensive as they used to be. Battery operated LED lights can be found in clear and an array of colors to customize any centerpiece to your wedding colors.

Weddings are not just for Saturdays anymore: Having your wedding on any other day of the week is a great way to lower wedding costs. A lot of venues have caught onto the fact that Sundays have become popular too, leading couples to become more creative with Thursday and Friday weddings. Not only are venue rental less expensive, it’s also a great way of keep your guest list manageable.

You don’t have to leave the country to experience a destination wedding: Within the state of Virginia, there are a variety of experiences - wine country weekends, resort getaways and coastal excursions - that don’t require a plane ticket.

I’ll be sharing more of Stephanie’s trends in future posts. To learn more about Diamond Events, visit www.dcdiamondevents.com. Or call 703.822.1675/email stephanie@dcdiamondevents.com.
