Helpful tips for planning your honeymoon

While booking an upcoming vacation with my client and travel specialist Terry Jones of Cruises Inc., we talked about some helpful tips for planning that trip of a lifetime – your honeymoon. Terry is known in Northern Virginia as the “Travel Lady” and you can get a lot of insight from her blog (blog.travelladycruises.com). Here’s some of Terry’s advice.

Consider where each of you have been before and discuss what you want to see and do on this trip.

Create a budget. Allow for more than what you intend to buy so you have pre-planned spending money. Make a list of extra items, such as drinks and gifts, and what their estimated costs will be.

Consult with a professional Travel Agent regarding planning and cost quotes. Travel Agents can save you time, hassle and money.

Make sure all reservations are made in your current names. All documents, such as passports, must have proper, valid names.

Plan on staying at a local hotel the night of the wedding and then start your trip the next day so you can enjoy the festivities and not feel rushed.

If you can, book your trip in advance with a small deposit and pay over time. If the rates change, your travel agent can negotiate a lower price. If you book on your own and pay in full, most companies will not change the price if it goes down.

Purchase travel insurance. It’s worth the small cost to protect your travel investment - and yourselves.

Make a list and pack two weeks before the trip. That way you won’t add to your stress before the big wedding day.

Happy Honeymoon,
