One lucky Northern Virginia couple experienced a beautiful country club wedding reception - provided gratis by Stonewall Golf & Country Club, as part of the $60,000 Marry Me Group Wedding Giveaway.

Jason and Samantha Klickna celebrated in style August 28th as 13 vendors provided their products and services for their wedding & reception. As part of the contest, couples were asked to write, in 500 words, a personal essay regarding why they should receive the giveaway and submit it along with a photo to the Marry Me Group. Jason and Samantha had put their wedding dreams on hold in order to care for Jason’s cancer-stricken dad. He was lovingly remembered at the wedding.

One of the best parts of my job is touring Northern Virginia’s beautiful reception sites. On a gorgeous summer day, I journeyed out to River Creek Club, located just off Route 7 on Olympic Boulevard in Leesburg.

River Creek lives up to its name with fantastic views of the Potomac River - a perfect backdrop for your wedding photos. The spacious club can host up to 300 and does only one wedding at time, so you have the run of the club. You can host your wedding ceremony on the veranda or in one of the smaller rooms - which are perfect for winter weddings with their fireplaces. There are even rooms available which Private Event Director Alejandra (”Aley”) Montel Rethman can turn into a bridal suite and a groomsmen’s quarters. One room features a TV, DVD player and pull down movie screen that’s perfect for the young wedding guests.

The club prides itself on customizing its wedding packages and averages in the $76 to $100 per person range. All inclusive packages offer three to five hours and include cocktails, champagne toast and wine service, passed hors d’oeuvres and a delicious lunch or dinner.

Regency at Dominion Valley

Jennifer Bodnar of Regency at Dominion Valley Country Club just emailed me that a wedding she had scheduled for June 19th has been canceled and the club is available for your wedding reception. Mention Brides & Weddings and Jennifer will waive the fee for the ballroom.

If you love a stately country club setting, take a look at Regency. In addition to their beautiful ballroom, the club features a lovely balcony for cocktail hour and an amphitheater for ceremonies.

Heritage Hunt

Over the last few years, I have noticed an increasing trend for July weddings. Typically, we think of that time of year as being pretty brutal with the heat and humidity, but hey, that’s why they invented air conditioning.

If you are looking at a mid-Summer wedding, check out Heritage Hunt Golf & Country Club located in Gainesville just north of I-66. The club has July 31st available. Montclair offers a spacious ballroom that can accommodate up to 200 guests, and has pricing in the $51-$75 per person range.  The club is open to the public certain times, which gives you a great opportunity to check out the food.
