Vintage Farm Wedding | Real Weddings

From high school sweethearts to UW-Madison grads, Josh & Kels ventured through life’s adventures together for over for a decade now. Moving halfway across the country to Cambridge, Josh was accepted to Harvard Law School where he completed his degree in an astonishing three years. Kelsey pursued her talents of theater while Josh completed school. Also during this time, they welcomed their gorgeous daughter Addie into the world and excitedly embraced their new role as mother and father.

After leaving Maryland to move to Chicago for Josh’s career, they found themselves back close to their roots. By this time, everything seemed in line for the next step that everyone was so patiently waiting for. During a visit back to Madison, Josh asked Kels if she wanted to go for a walk around campus where they had spent so many years together during their undergrad. It was here that Josh popped the question in their home away from, with all of their closest family members watching from a far.

Their wedding plans began, and they knew they wanted it to be an intimate, rustic, completely homegrown Wisconsin wedding right in Josh’s childhood backyard. Everyone pitched in to make their dream wedding come to reality in a big way. Kelsey’s father worked for weeks to clear out trees and debris in the back lot where their ceremony would be held, while Josh’s mom planted all the flowers in the early spring that would eventually be used for the wedding.

The cocktails were prepared with local spirits and handcrafted sodas from Madison, with herbs grown in the same garden as the flowers that garnished the tables and bridal party. Kelsey’s late grandfather’s Airstream trailer was utilized as a centerpiece for guests to relax in and was an important addition for Kelsey who spent much of her childhood summers traveling cross country in it. Guests came from far and wide, from childhood friends and families still located just down the road from them; to Maryland and Chicago colleagues and theater actors.
