Melinda and Matthew were such a great couple to capture due to their relaxed, carefree attitudes. They met online and after some time, exchanged numbers and later met at the Blue Monkey Tavern in New Jersey. Matthew proposed on the 4th of July in front of their family and friends during a BBQ at their house. As they sat to eat, Matthew said he had to make an announcement, Melinda quickly said to her sister, “Oh gosh, what a dork!” Matthew started by thanking everyone for coming to their Independence Day BBQ and then said he wanted to give his independence away to Melinda and asked her to marry him. As everyone cheered Melinda went over to say yes, but first she told him, “You couldn’t let me swallow the mouthful of food first?!” as everyone burst in laughter, she said yes loud enough for everyone to hear. Then Matthew had fireworks shot off to close out the proposal. Melinda had no theme for her wedding, deciding instead to just choose things she thought were cute that would also work together. The most important thing for Melinda was making sure both parties were on board with their decisions regarding the bridesmaid’s dresses and tuxedos. Melinda went into dress buying with an open mind and no set style of dress, and she fell in love with the first dress she put on. Melinda’s favorite memory from her wedding was seeing the look on Matthew’s face as she made her way down the aisle as it captured so much emotion that he rarely ever shows.
