Charlotte and Will met while they were both attending James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. These two have such school spirit, when Will proposed he had the ring box decorated with JMU’s colors, purple and gold. Of course, when this fun loving couple decided to plan a destination wedding in idyllic Key West, Florida they just had to bring a little bit of home with them. With personal touches like Charlotte’s purple and gold garter and Will’s “Duke the Dog” plushie to guard the bar these two paid perfect tribute to the alma matter that brought them together.
After their ceremony on Fort Zachary Taylor beach, it was just a short walk to their reception site, The Fortress, where the historic fort still stands today. The venue offered amazing photographic opportunities and the perfect contrast to Charlotte and Will’s tropically styled wedding decor and fashion.
Charlotte, who pinned a tiny picture of her grandma to her bridal bouquet, looked simply elegant in a duchess satin mermaid gown with crystal accents at the waist, while her bridesmaids wore strapless chiffon in a stunning coral. Will and the guys wore tan suits for a light, beachy feel and paired them with bright yellow ties to add a pop of color.
The flowers, a brightly colored mix of roses, orchids and tropical lilies were a festive celebration of the setting and the perfect backdrop to the steel drum music the couple grooved to at their cocktail hour. After dinner, guests were treated to mini key lime pies and danced under the stars before sending the bride and groom off with sparklers!
