Alex and Jamie’s Elegant Affair

by Amy Serrago

Alex and Jamie are high school sweethearts who have been going strong since their teens, a real love story! They met when Alex was the new girl in school, she caught Jamie’s eye and he was smitten. They dated through high school, and when graduation approached they had planned to go to different universities, but eventually ended up at the same school. Today, they even work for the same company and as their best friend put it they are “the perfect match” for each other. Jamie’s first proposal plan was set for Alex’s birthday, but her grandfather fell ill and the couple rushed to his bedside. He told Alex and Jamie that it was his dream to see them engaged before he died. A week later when they were visiting him again, Jamie popped the question, having hatched the plan with Alex’s grandpa as an accomplice. There must’ve been something to that proposal, because not only did Alex say yes, but her grandfather got better and was there to see the pair exchange vows on a wedding day that started with first looks before a sweet chapel ceremony where Alex’s dad walked her down the aisle to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.

Alex was glamorous in her fitted lace gown with its sweetheart neckline, sparkling beaded spaghetti straps and sexy backless styling. A sparkling crystal chain headpiece and long veil completed her look and added a touch of drama. Her nine bridesmaids were elegantly styled in shades of ivory, pink and blush and wore a mix of soft and sequin gowns. All of the ladies carried bouquets of white florals accented with greenery, a classic yet modern look that was echoed in the reception decor. Jamie and his groomsmen went luxury all the way in classic black tuxedos and white pocket squares, making handsome escorts for the ladies.

The reception space featured a wall of windows that poured light into the room. Tables were set with centerpieces of white peonies and roses accented with lush greenery atop classic white linens. The head table, which seated the entire wedding party, was adorned with a long runner of greenery, accented by shining gold hurricane candles for extra sparkle. The decor was topped off by silver chairs and rustic wooden details, like table numbers, giving the room a light and airy elegance. The bride and groom entered to their first dance, “Just Like the Movies” by Jana Kramer before getting everyone up on the dance floor for a good luck hora! After dinner, Jamie made a speech thanking everyone for all of their love and support before he and Alex cut their fun “carved tree” wedding cake. Congratulations Alex and Jamie!
