Amber and Brian live in LA, but for their wedding they went back to their east coast roots and planned a woodsy wedding at the Overlook House in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The charming 1926 house was the perfect setting for this cool couple’s rustic wedding with all of its personalized details and fun DIY touches. Amber says the ceremony was their favorite part of the wedding. They had a dear friend serve as the officiant and wrote their own vows. And since Amber and Brian musicians, they had two of their talented friends on hand to play their ceremony songs. “Our officiant made a point to pause a few times during the ceremony so that everyone could take in the moment and I’m so happy she did”, says Amber.
Amber was radiant in her vintage-inspired lace sheath gown with its deep V neckline and sheer bodice detailing. She finished her look with a long veil and a bold red lip, a timeless style. Her bridesmaids wore non-matching gowns to highlight each lady’s individual beauty and they all carried delicate bouquets of baby’s breath and wildflowers. Amber’s bouquet was a knockout mix of roses and greenery sprinkled with wildflower accents. Brian and his groomsmen were handsome in gray suits with blue ties and Brian rocked a newsboy cap to show his funky side.
There were so many personalized details that Amber and Brian included in their day, like coloring book style placemats with a drawing of them and their pet bulldog, Diesel, and an electric guitar “guest book”. Amber’s mother passed away in 2010 and one of her relatives made colorful pennants out of her clothing that hung throughout the space so they could remember her “bright spirit” at the wedding. Amber carried a locket with her mom’s picture on her bouquet and a special toast was made to honor her before dinner. Tables were set with crisp white linens and delicate arrangements of colorful wildflowers. Photos of Diesel wearing numbers on his collar served adorably as table markers and old family photos were a highlight of the decor. Amber paid attention to every detail, but still found the time to serenade her new husband with her rendition of Patti Griffin’s “When It Don’t Come Easy”. We just love all the personalized touches this talented couple infused into their celebration. Congratulations Amber and Brian!
