Sol and German’s Vintage Rock and Roll Themed Wedding

by Amy Serrago

Sol and German wanted something “a little different” for their wedding and though they didn’t plan it from the get-go, they ended up with a fabulous Vintage Rock and Roll theme that had a touch of “Friday the Thirteenth”. Sol says, “pieces started coming together as we thought of colors and styles”. They landed on a fun and funky palette of metallics. As Sol put it, “rose gold, copper, chrome, and antique gold, anything shiny!”. The ceremony took place under a Spanish moss covered ancient oak tree at the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. The wedding party entered to “welcome to the Jungle” by Guns and Roses and Sol and her dad walked down the aisle to The Addam’s Family theme. Sol and German exchanged vows under an antique framed “flower chandelier” that they created and the aisle was decorated with metallic stars and swatches of vintage fabric, all of it DIY!

The fashion at Sol and German’s wedding totally rocked! Sol found her Carol Hannah Senara gown in New York City and instantly fell in love. “Gold threaded linen, gold paint splattered veil, a gorgeous gown, to say the least, that totally fit my vibe!” We couldn’t agree more. The asymmetrical neckline and corset-styled bodice are wonderfully vintage glam and full-on rock and roll. The bridesmaids’ leather motorcycle jackets paired with full tulle skirts were perfect and the floral crowns in their hair were lovingly handmade by the bride. The ladies carried bouquets of proteas, roses and dahlias in purple and vintage pink hues with plenty of lush greenery which gave the overall look a dark romantic vibe, all the while complimenting Sol’s purple hair! German sported a rocked-out leather suit and cool vintage hat and his groomsmen backed him up in black pants with white shirts and black suspenders and some funky haberdashery of their own.

The reception was absolutely brimming with vintage charm and DIY deliciousness. Sol’s favorite part was the 1920’s moon prop which she says, “we made… with plywood and hand painted with a friend. It was 8 feet tall!” Everyone loved it, but the best part is, it now decorates their home. Wooden farmhouse tables, set outside, under the stars and some strung Edison bulbs, were decorated with vintage plates, colored goblets and mossy runners. The bar was fashioned from an old dresser and over it hung antique metal letters that lit up at night. Sol and German treated their guests to cotton candy and a gelato truck and handmade their own giant Jenga and Cornhole games. As the sun went down, the Emerald Empire Band lit it up on the stage as guests rocked out on the dance floor. Congratulations Sol and German, you guys totally rock!
