Rachel and John’s Historic Estate Wedding

by Amy Serrago

Rachel and John met while they were both working at a popular restaurant in Charleston, SC. On their first date, they went for tacos and margaritas, a date they still keep once a week! After dating for several years and planning for their life together, they decided to purchase a home. On the day of the closing, they headed to the house so Rachel could start measuring for rugs and furniture. When they walked in, there was a trail of rose petals on the floor leading to a large rose petal heart. Rachel turned to see John on one knee, with ring in hand. She said yes, and they started planning again. This time for their wedding, which would take place at Rachel’s parent’s home in Jacksonville, FL. A historic home, built in 1882, that was beautifully decorated for the couple’s wedding. A large bamboo archway, covered in lush florals, served as the ceremony altar.

Rachel was radiant in her lace mermaid cut gown with its sweetheart neckline and sparkling belt. Her bridesmaids brought the glamour in glittering gold and John and his groomsmen were dapper in navy blue. Even their dog, Bella got to attend. They were serenaded by a string duo as they exchanged vows surrounded by their closest friends and family before heading to the tennis courts in the backyard, where the reception took place. The jasmine that lined the fence was in full bloom and the sweet smell drifted across the yard filling the spring air. Pink florals and gold accents made cheerful springtime decor and Rachel, John and their guests had a blast dancing the night away to the Bay Kings Band who performed under the tent. Congratulations Rachel and John!
