Theresa and Brian: Mixing Traditions and Modern Fun

by Amy Serrago

Theresa and Brian’s wedding day started with a traditional tea ceremony that had Brian participating in “door games” to gain entrance to Theresa’s family’s home. The tradition states that the groom has to make this final effort to win his bride by offering red envelopes to her bridesmaids or singing and dancing to prove his determination and get through the door to where his love awaits. Theresa wore a traditional red silk dress for the tea ceremony before changing into her wedding gown for first looks with Brian. When the tea ceremony was completed the wedding party made the trip to St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church for a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony. Theresa and Brian posed for couple’s portraits under the church’s archways before heading to their reception at the Hilton San Gabriel near Los Angeles, CA.

Theresa was absolutely stunning in her classic ballgown with its lacy straps and bodice and cathedral train. She finished her look with sparkling stud earrings and a fingertip veil. Her bridesmaids wore non-matching gowns in shades of pink ranging from blush to dusty rose and all of the ladies carried bouquets of pink and white roses. Brian and his groomsmen were dashing in gray suits which they paired with pale pink ties to play up the day’s pretty pink color story.

At the reception, Theresa and Brian’s sweetheart table was set on a stage and covered in lush florals. Their wedding cake sat beside them on a table draped in a sparkling rose gold cloth. Personalized lighting was projected onto the wall behind them and large white balloons created a whimsical vibe. The newlyweds were treated to speeches and special performances by their wedding party and even Theresa got in the act, performing a special number for her groom with her bridesmaids to back her up. After dinner, Theresa changed back into her red silk tea ceremony gown to cut her grand four-tiered wedding cake with Brian by her side. The dance floor was rocking as the newlyweds partied into the night with their closest friends and family. Congratulations Theresa and Brian!
