Chelsea and Geoff: A Formal Wedding With a Playful Spirit

by Amy Serrago

Geoff’s proposal to Chelsea was a family affair. Everyone from her sister and parents to her aunts and grandma were in on the surprise. Luckily, Chelsea’s family can keep a secret! Chelsea was totally surprised when Geoff asked her to be his wife, it took her a minute to actually say “yes”. But of course she did and wedding planning was under way – after sharing some prosecco with the whole family. They chose the historic Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, Mass. for their wedding day which started with a heartfelt ceremony. After they said “I do”, Chelsea, Geoff and their wedding party headed outside to pose for pictures by the hotel’s stone gazebo.

Chelsea was radiant in her lace sheath gown with its vintage-inspired styling and chapel train. She finished her look with a sparkling pair of T-strap pumps, a fingertip veil and her beautifully unique engagement ring. Geoff had it designed for her using the diamond from his great-grandmother’s wedding ring and Chelsea’s favorite stone, turquoise. Her bridesmaids were dazzling in pale blush gowns with glittering skirting and all of the ladies carried bouquets of blush and pink roses, white hydrangea and peacock feather accents. Geoff and his groomsmen were dressed to the nines in traditional black tuxes, the perfect apparel for the grand hotel ballroom.

At the reception, tables were set with white linens and the centerpieces featured pink roses placed in vintage brass candlesticks with baby’s breath and peacock feather accents. Geoff always loved legos as a kid, so to honor his inner child, he and Chelsea created their table numbers out of pink legos and completed their tablescapes with fun legos that not only kept the kids in attendance entertained, but also delighted the adults. Plenty of gold volitive candles cast a warm glow over the space and each place setting held a scratch-off lottery ticket to add to the playfulness and fun of the day. Chelsea and Geoff wowed their friends and family with their first dance and soon asked everyone to join them on the floor. As the sun went down, the newlyweds and their guests celebrated into the night to the sounds of DJ, Aux Boston. Congratulations, Chelsea and Geoff!
