Laura and Greg: Traditional Romance

by Amy Serrago

Greg has always planned extravagant dates for Laura and himself. So, on the day he proposed, Laura had no idea she was about to say “yes”! First, she and Greg strolled around the framer’s market in Chicago’s Lincoln Park. After that, they shared a breakfast picnic by the lake. That’s when Greg pulled out a letter he’d written to Laura, got down on one knee and gave his love a beautiful rose gold engagement ring.

Later that night, the happy couple went to a romantic dinner and to a Chicago Symphony performance. But that wasn’t the end of Greg’s plan. The next day he arranged a brunch with both of their families before they all met up with their closest friends to keep the celebration going all weekend!

Laura and Greg’s wedding day had an overall theme of romance. In addition, they incorporated family heirlooms and Christian traditions into their ceremony. Laura was radiant in her sleek sheath gown with its lacy bodice. And she carried her great grandmother’s bible down the aisle. Inspired by her engagement ring, Laura incorporated rose gold into the wedding’s palette, starting with the bridesmaids’ glittering gowns. Meanwhile, Greg and his groomsmen were handsome in black suits and dusty rose ties.

Laura loves florals with lots of lush greenery, so they incorporated plenty of leafiness into the decor. As she puts it, the greenery brought “some life into the ballroom”. To round out the color palette, Laura and Greg added mauve, blush and sand. At the same time, sparkling elements added a touch of glamour. Personal details were everywhere! The wedding party gifts included baskets of the couple’s “favorite things” and they served Greg’s favorite food, pizza, as a late night snack. Which kept everyone fueled up for dancing. Congratulations Laura and Greg!
