Elegant University of Virginia Wedding

One day shy of the two-year anniversary of their first date, Cherise and Jeremy welcomed family and friends to celebrate their wedding in Charlottesville, Virginia at The Inn at Darden for their University of Virginia wedding on the north grounds!

Cherise had just graduated from UVA’s medical school the weekend before, and so the campus holds a very special meaning for the couple.

THE PROPOSAL

Jeremy and Cherise were enjoying a trip to Paris and climbed the 669 stairs to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower on their first night. After completing their mission, they sought out someone who spoke English to document their accomplishment. Little did Cherise know, but when she turned around from handing her camera to the stranger for the photo, Jeremy had already dropped to one knee to propose!

THE WEDDING

Cherise shared a special first look with her dad before the ceremony and her dad teared up a bit when he saw how beautiful Cherise looked!

Her mom helped her with her veil, and then the venue’s golf cart whisked the bridal party away to the ceremony site where the groom and groomsmen were waiting.

The ceremony space at the Inn at Darden was very elegant with lots of natural light and fireplaces flanking either end of the room. The ceiling was bedazzled with rows of chandeliers running the length of the room.

After the couple said their vows, exchanged rings and took part in a sand ceremony, the two ‘jumped the broom.’ This custom signifies sweeping away their former single lives, cares, and concerns and jumping into the new adventure of married life together.

The couple entered the reception after cocktail hour and immediately delighted the surprised guests by perfectly executing a beautifully choreographed First Dance!

Then Cherise and Jeremy danced with their parents before their best man, maid of honor, and parents honored them with toasts. Many of the stories referenced how much they each loved the Lord, and how wonderful it was that His timing brought Cherise and Jeremy together! Before dinner was served, the guests watched a ‘movie’ of the couple’s history featuring photos from their childhood through the present.

After a lot of dancing, the couple ran down the long steps in front of the venue for a beautiful sparkler send-off.
