Gloomy Spring Engagement

Captured & submitted by Shelby Stewart

Even when it’s gloomy in Charleston… when spring time starts to peak- it’s still so beautiful and adds an whimsical romantic vibe to any couples photos.

Bryce and Camila’s Love Story

Q: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?

A: We actually met for the first time in middle school, but Bryce thought Camila was too obnoxious & Camila thought Bryce was too shy. Junior year of high school,  we had a lot of classes together including (and fittingly), chemistry. Since we are both huge nerds, we bonded over competing for the best grades and sparked a friendship. This eventually turned into more when we started dating during junior prom.

Q: What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?

A: The competitive drive that sparked our friendship in high school turned into us constantly pushing each other to be the best versions of ourselves. We supported each other through college and then medical school. We are also able to bond over our common  academic pursuits, & are excited to soon become doctors together. We also love to travel, cook together, bond over sports, and are constantly on another adventure together.

Q: How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always)

A: Camila: I always felt that Bryce & I had a special connection – even from a young age. But I really knew he was the one when he supported all of my crazy goals through college. Instead of discouraging me, he has always been my #1 believer. When his belief in me pushed me to do my best in college, I knew he was the person I wanted next to me forever.Bryce: It is hard to choose one defining moment when I new she was the one. I can think of countless moments in the early days when pure infatuation transitioned to something deeper and more personal. For me, that moment came when we began choosing which colleges to attend. I had interest in some that would put physical distance between the two of us, and at one point, I realized that was a dealbreaker for me. I knew early on that I would eventually marry her. During senior year of high school, I went as far as to tell my best friend that I would do just that.

Q: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?

A: Throughout our time dating, we spent a lot of time in downtown Charleston (including our very first date). Since friends and family have always been so important to us, Bryce wanted to incorporate them into the proposal. He had our closest loved ones write letters about how much I mean to them. He then gave me a few letters at a time in different locations in Charleston that are meaningful to us. He gave me the final letters from my parents, best friend, and brother at the park where we had our first date and then got down on one knee.

Q: We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!

A: Bryce wanted to make sure to find a ring that matched my personality. I didn’t give him any specific ideas of things that I wanted, so he went shopping with his mom & Facetimed my best friend. He knew he found the right ring when he saw the sparkliest ring that he felt lit up the room. It’s a beautiful round diamond, set in a princess halo, with smaller diamonds surrounding a white gold band.

Q: What are you most excited about when it comes to your wedding planning?

A: Getting to bring all of our family & friends together to celebrate our love! They have all contributed to our relationship with their love & support. We cannot wait to make our wedding vision come true & share our love with everyone.
