Interview With the Happy Couple

How did you meet?

“We met and became best friends in 2012. I was a volunteer trainer and crisis worker for an organization answering the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and Liz was in my first training class. She was amazing, empathic, and compassionate. Together we would take shifts on Saturday nights and it was so awesome to have another person that felt the work was as important as I did. I’m now the Director of that program and Liz works in suicide prevention as well. Liz and I both have a deep passion to work within our community and volunteering is just part of who we are. Our relationship took many years to become what it is today, but what remains the same is our dedication to serving others and making this life one worth living.”

Why did you choose to elope?

“We chose to have our ceremony where we wanted to be, with just our kids. We wanted amazing photos too! We chose Simply Eloped because we are both very busy in our careers and all of the logistics were taken care of. We chose to have a reception afterwards but kept our ceremony just for us. Despite being in the middle of Union Station, our officiant Joan made us feel like we were the only ones in the room. It was special, intimate, and good exactly what we wanted with no pressure. The most important part of our wedding day was our vows and eloping made is possible to keep the focus on that and not all the details of a typical wedding ceremony.”

How did you choose your elopement location

“Honestly, it was for the photos! There are so many beautiful spaces there and the photos of our ceremony were one of the most important things we wanted for the day. We knew no matter the weather or the time of day, it was a perfect location and we were not wrong!”
