Great Sand Dunes and Plane Adventure Elopement

Jodi and Steve wanted an authentic, adventurous elopement focused on just the two of them. They have always loved Great Sand Dunes National Park, which became even more appealing due to wild Colorado weather in late May. Only a few days before their elopement, a snowstorm dumped snow all over the dunes and surrounding mountains, and flooded the airfield. But that didn’t stop them, in fact it made them more excited for the beauty they were about to witness.

They started their day with an airplane ride to see the Dunes and mountains from up high. The snow-capped mountains transfixing and exciting us with it’s beauty. The Dunes below glowed a gorgeous orange, beckoning us. After our morning plane ride, the two got ready in their hotel, with both writing their vows in private. Jodi has bought a custom engraved compass for Steve, which she gave him right before the first look.

Then we were off to the Dunes. They said their vows and held their ceremony surrounded by the towering dunes, and mountains in the distance. Once they were officially married, they went off to play in  the sand, even making time for sand angels. As the sun dipped behind the dunes, they had a picnic, followed by some blue hour magic. As avid star-gazers they came out once again to experience the blanket of shining stars across the night sky. It was a perfect day and perfect elopement.
