Jana and Kyle’s Charming Coastal Vow Renewal

Captured & submitted by Anna Taylor Photography

Throughout 10 years of marriage, our love has grown and matured, creating magic and priceless moments through the years. In celebration of our love, we decided what better way than to renew our vows on our 10 year wedding anniversary. Keeping it intimate with our children and closest family and friends, as a reminder of the what we have shared together, but more importantly all the memories we have left to create together in this lifetime.”

Our vow renewal took place off the beautiful coast of the Carolinas. Wilmington, North Carolina to be exact. We started off at the charming Sycamore Bend property, and we finished off the night chasing the sunset on the Intracoastal Waterway aboard the beautiful and luxurious yacht, Blue Bonnet II, provided by My Yacht Source.

The inspiration for our renewal draws from the stunning foliage of our little slice of heaven off our coast, our love for the water, and passion for design. My intention was to incorporate all the natural and organic elements featured in our coastal beach city that so many are drawn to, which makes our area such a prime wedding destination location. Our vow renewal radiates classic and timeless love that surrounds a wedding day! It is a story that breathes life and inspiration into all the possibilities that can unfold in a wedding celebration and vow renewal.

The day unfolds with capturing all the exquisite details. From the delicate invitation suite curated by Alexis Scott Designs, to the luscious flowers provided by talented Design Perfection, the hand crafted specialty rentals provided by White Birch, Party Suppliers, the stunning detailed linens from Nuage Design, the delicious food from Spoonfed Kitchen, and the stately horses and grounds of the Sycamore Bend venue. There wasn’t a detail throughout our day that wasn’t precisely purposeful in order to allow each element to shine in all it’s glory!

We chose to have a first look this go round. There were a handful of moments we didn’t have the opportunity to experience on our wedding day 10 years ago, so we wanted to incorporate those into our vow renewal. The hubby was beyond surprised when he turned to see me in a full on bridal gown and veil provided by Coastal Knot. I will never forget his reaction, and him in his handsome suit provided by Cape Fear Formal Wear. Our children then had the opportunity to present themselves to us in their adorable dress and suite with their very own first look. To say we were all smitten of each other would be an understatement.

We had the best time capturing family portraits and loving on the ravishing horses. We all have a deep love for horses, so to incorporate them into our day felt extremely fitting. We love that our children share a same deep love for these beautiful creatures as well.

It was officially time to join all of our family and friends. We always supported the idea of a vow renewal, and a few years ago we decided our 10 year anniversary would be the storybook moment for our own. Our renewal was the perfect time for us to reflect on all that we’ve been through over the past 12 years together, how much we have grown together and individually, what we have built together, and how much we have to celebrate in our future. We chose to read letters back to each other we had written for our wedding day that we tucked away for our ten year anniversary.

We sealed our love with a kiss, and celebrated with dinner and cocktails, provided by the talented Spoonfed Kitchen, under the large oak and lush crape myrtle trees. After dinner we hopped into the baby blue Cadillac Coup De Ville, provided by Azalea Limousine, and cruised over to the Sea path Marina where we hosted our families on the pristine Blue Bonnet II yacht.

There’s nothing like sailing on the water with family and friends, sipping cocktails, listening to music, and enjoying the sunset. We took our places at the point of the yacht where we officially renewed our vows and promised each other another lifetime together! There wasn’t a dry eye on the boat. We are water people, so we knew we wanted another special moment on the boat with just family. Our intention was to celebrate and give the best experience to the ones who have been with us through our last 10 years of marriage. After all, these individuals have been the backbone and support system to our relationship! Spoonfed Kitchen also provided delicious heavy hors d’oeuvres and sweets for our voyage.

We wanted to intentionally create the perfect intimate setting on both land and water. Each detail was curated with precision in order to help tell the story of our memorable journey together. Every decision had meaning behind it. We brought a multitude of components to blend our vision with the whimsical elements of the our southern coastal city; such as the large oak trees, the stunning horses, and the breathtaking outdoor green space, and matched them with the natural and organic components of florals, and the intracoastal waterway with the gorgeous yacht.

My goal with our vow renewal was to show that it’s never too late to celebrate love, or have the wedding of your dreams. There are many couples who execute a lower budget wedding for their initial wedding day, in hopes to have that dream day later in life. Why can’t a couple curate their dream day years later?! Love is timeless, love is unconditional, and love is always worth celebrating! Cheers to not only wedding days, but vow renewals!
