Your Wedding Planning Timeline, Part 2: A Helpful Guide

By Lisa Beth Miller

Okay …we left off with nine to twelve months before the big day on our last installment of “Your Wedding Timeline,” so let’s continue with the things you should be doing six to nine months before your wedding!

At this point in the planning stages, you should select and order your wedding invitations and other personalized stationery items such as save-the-date cards and thank-you notes.

At this time, you could also begin to arrange airline deals and group hotel accommodations for your out-of-town guests. Some people love to plan ahead, so it is absolutely not too early to start providing this kind of information to your friends and family members!

It would now be a great time to sign contracts with your caterer, photographer, band or DJ, and any other vendors you have decided upon.

It is also now time for you to gather your bridesmaids and schedule an appointment at your local bridal boutique! You will need to place your order for your bridal gown, select your wedding day shoes, jewelry, veil, bag, and other accessories, and select your bridesmaids’ dresses, shoes, and accessories. Just for fun, invite mothers and grandmothers to come along to offer opinions and shop for themselves!

A few other things to do now include scheduling time off from work, reserving flights and hotels for your honeymoon, booking wedding day hair and makeup appointments, and finalize your guest list.
