The bride and groom selected the oldest building in the US to host their classically elegant wedding; The Ancient Spanish Monastery. Built in Northern Spain in 1141 AD, it was purchased in 1925, dismantled stone by stone and shipped in 11,000 wooden crates to the US. It sat in storage for 26 years until it was purchased by two entrepreneurs. It took 19 months and the equivalent of $20 million dollars today to put it back together in the original blueprint. After getting engaged in St. Augustine, Florida, the oldest city in the US, it was only fitting to get married in the oldest building in the US. And while the grand setting of the monastery set the stage for this black tie affair, the couple’s attention to detail brought the warmth and love into this historic place.
