Ida and Matt’s Lavender and Lilac Fairytale Wedding

Captured & submitted by Nadine McKenney Photography

I always envisioned an elegant, romantic, and almost fairytale-like wedding theme. I have a few favourite colours and Matt’s favourite is purple so it was an easy decision for our colour palette. We then narrowed it down to a lilac/lavender colour.  Our venue, The Bow Valley Ranche, fit perfectly with our vision as it was nestled in beautiful Fish Creek Park and the historical Ranche house itself was stunning. One cultural aspect we incorporated into our day was from my Italian roots – the tradition of a bomboniere – a box containing “bonbons”.  In Italian culture, traditionally, bombonieres are sugar-coated almonds. Five almonds represent five wishes for the newlyweds: health, wealth, happiness, family, and a long life. It has been a wedding tradition of many women in my family including my mom, aunt, cousins, and Nonna.
