Nitin and Rina’s Grandiose Multicultural Hindu Wedding

Nitin and Rina were engaged on a New York City rooftop during Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. The couple, who had first met during med school, had gone out for drinks with Nitin’s brother and mutual friends. Little did Rina know they were getting engaged that night. After the proposal they joined their families for a celebratory dinner together.

The couple celebrated with a Hindu and Christian ceremony hoping to honor both traditions in a colorful outdoor garden setting. The elegant outdoor ceremony space was set with draped fabrics and florals where the couple sat on ornate golden furniture. They posed for photos together in the garden before both ceremonies, sporting traditional Indian clothing as well as a suit and white wedding dress. The reception space included every shade of pink, which complemented Rina’s deep berry-toned lehenga. They also chose to incorporate Bollywood and American-inspired first dances. A golden wall made up of candles and florals served as a charming photo-op space. Guests enjoyed a light sprinkling of med school humor incorporated into the signage and specialty cocktails, as well as first aid-themed gift bags. The dance party ensued, illuminated by rose-colored lighting and fueled by a decadent dessert bar.
