Emily and Chris’s Waterfront Wedding at Deception Pass State Park

Captured and Submitted by Sea to Summit Photography

Chris and Emily had this to say about their beautiful wedding.

How We Met

We met in high school! We dated for 2 years in high school and then briefly broke up to go to separate colleges. After a semester or so, we decided to try again and proceeded to be long distance for the next 4 years. We stuck with each other through cross country internships, career changes, and everything that comes your way in college. Finally, everything aligned and Chris got into law school in the same city Emily got a job! He got down on one knee while camping and it was absolutely magic!

Wedding Theme

We wanted an outdoor theme for our wedding and wanted a wedding that showed our love for hiking and spending time in nature. We found Deception Pass to be the perfect spot as you could have beautiful waterfront views, steep hills, and lots of places to have an intimate ceremony.

The Dress

I knew I wanted a non-traditional dress, one that would let me climb any steep hike I wanted and to move freely in. I found that going for a shorter dress was absolutely what I wanted. It felt so freeing! The flowers. My aunt made these flowers for me by hand and they look so real, but it was her making of my bouquet that makes it so special and will cherish for years to come.

The First Dance

Clumsy! We had so much fun dancing under the Deception Pass bridge, just the 2 of us. It was amazing to have that moment to ourselves. I highly recommend dancing in hiking shoes!

Any Advice for Other Brides?

There is no recipe to have the perfect wedding, the important part is having a wedding that is a reflection on who you and your partner are and to have FUN! We certainly did.
