Brides & Weddings Magazine is thrilled to announce the winners of its inaugural First Annual Cake-Off competition. This event has ignited the culinary passions of bakers and cake enthusiasts in the Washington Metro area. With a staggering array of talent on display, the competition was friendly, and the judges had the enviable but challenging task of selecting the top creations.
Held at Briar Patch in Middleburg, Virginia, the Women’s Wedding Network members and three celebrity judges had lunch before tasting and voting on all of the cakes present. The winning cakes emerged as delightful masterpieces that showcased the bakers’ exceptional skill and celebrated the artistry and imagination that go into crafting the perfect wedding cake.

Nothing Bundt Cakes Gainesville-Haymarket
Best Flavor AND Attendees Choice
Taking this category was the talented team at Field and Main. This exquisite cake, created by Chef Alec Barber, captured the hearts and palates of the judges with its delicate layers of Ginger spiced cake with caramelized granny smith apple filling and a salted caramel cream cheese frosting.
Most Creative AND Best Presentation
Cakebee captured Most Creative AND Best Presentation with their captivating creation, “A Wind Upon Water.” This 3 ½ tiered wedding cake in Round 4″, 6″, 8″, and 9″ was covered with white fondant and dressed with marbled blue torn paper ruffles, created to look like ocean waves crashing along the cake. The ruffles were fused with white spirals swirled to look like flowers blowing in the wind and adorned with small fondant stems of swaying baby’s breath for delicateness.
Specialty
Nothing Bunt Cake won the specialty category with their modern take on the classic Bundt cake. They baked up Lemon Raspberry crowned with their delicious signature cream cheese frosting.
In addition to these remarkable creations, Baking with Paty and Sweet Tooth Bakery received honorable mentions for their exceptional artistry and taste. The event showcased the incredible talent within the wedding industry and provided a platform for emerging cake designers to shine.
