Being half-Hispanic, my Colombian mom has taught me about many cultural events held in both her country and other Spanish countries around the world, with the flower festival being one of the biggest social events of the year! Colorful arrangements of florals fill the cityscapes, and the streets have flower petals intricately arranged into “floral carpets”. I wanted to take this beautiful festival and envision a wedding around the concept.
This shoot took place at Morais Vineyards in Bealeton, Virginia. I picked this location because is a Portuguese-inspired venue perfect to bring out the architectural beauty found in Spanish and Portuguese Countries. I also incorporated being Christian into the shoot by having one of the couples wear attire you’d find in a Catholic ceremony. A majority of Hispanic Countries are of Catholic Faith, and it brought me joy to include these elements in the theme. I want people to see the bright, colorful theme of this shoot and feel a sense of fun and playfulness. Overall, I felt closer to my heritage when I created this shoot and I am proud of every vendor who worked alongside me to create a successful event.
