The day Zachary and Sarah met was also the day that he began his time in the Army. While at basic training, Zachary was unable to have a phone. This meant the couple had only sent a handful of texts back and forth to each other before he was unable to be reached. When he returned a few months later to visit for Christmas, the couple was able to go on their first official date. They both agreed to write letters while he finished basic training. During breaks, they were able to make time for visits and to meet each other’s families. Almost a year after their first date, Zachary surprised Sarah and proposed during Christmastime at Longwood Gardens.

Located on Maryland’s eastern shore, the Worsell Manor granted Sarah and Zachary a beautifully rustic wedding day. The venue offered a restored brick mansion from the 1600s as well as a beautifully aged historic wooden barn. Sarah’s stunning ballgown swirled throughout the farm’s gardens as she strolled with Zachary for their first look photos. Guests sat on long wooden benches, where the wooden cross altar was set, draped in a delicate swag of greenery. Marking the entrance to the aisle were two bouquets set in gold vases, as well as greenery tied to the end of each bench. The bridesmaids wore dresses in different shades of blush and nude, each carrying a bouquet of peach and orange flowers from Blooms by the Box. String lights draped in the barn, as wooden beams let natural lighting peak in between the antiqued boards. A DIY setting chart was created from a vintage mirror and a swag of florals. Embracing the rustic charm, vintage amber glassware, natural raffia place settings, and golden touches of serving ware paired effortlessly with the exposed wooden tables and decor.
