Desi and Hannah didn’t want an extravagant wedding, but ensuring their two dogs could be part of their elopement was a must. As they planned their elopement, the only visions in their heads were of snow-capped mountains and lush greenery. Recognizing that weather could be both our ally and adversary, we randomly picked a Wednesday afternoon, crossing our fingers for the best.
The day kicked off like any other: waking up, walking the dogs, and sipping coffee, but we were nestled in the deep mountains of Frisco, enhancing the experience. Kelly and Sarah, the hair and makeup, arrived to work their magic on the girls’ hair while we reminisced about our journey together. It was a reminder of why they chose to elope – the focus was solely on each other and making sure their dogs were involved.
I later joined them just as the finishing touches were being put in place, and the excitement escalated. Once dressed and with the car and pups packed, we embarked on their adventure. With ‘Best of the 90s’ blaring, we arrived at a small frozen lake surrounded by rocks, green trees, and snow-capped mountains, realizing it was just a teaser. Our true destination was Copper Key, where the vows were exchanged and the dogs watched their moms elope in a stunning gulch with snow-capped mountains all around.
The celebration didn’t end with the vows; we drove up a local mountain pass, marveling at the breathtaking scenery. The further we drove, the more spectacular the view became. Upon reaching the summit, the realization hit us – ‘we did it, and we need to celebrate.’ Bringing our dog up the mountain, we indulged in a champagne shower, raised a toast, and signed our marriage license with our pup as the witness.
After spending the afternoon exploring the beautiful parts of Colorado, welcoming me as an uncle to our dogs, we capped off the night with BBQ and a relaxing dip in the hot tub. The moment we stepped out, Uncle Sean shared a preview of the captivating moments he captured from our unforgettable day. It was a complete and magical experience.
