Stephanie and Chris’s Wedding at Great Marsh Estate

Stephanie and Chris had a gorgeous, colorful wedding at Great Marsh Estate! They filled out the questionnaire with more details about their day.

  • Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
  • A: We wanted to include our pets so they were a huge part of our theme. We had them on our invitations, signs, and on our favors! We also knew we wanted it to be very colorful so the florals were bright and summery.
  • Q: Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
  • A: We chose our venue so we could focus on the flowers and centerpieces. The stone inside of Great Marsh was beautiful, so there wasn’t a lot needed. The one thing that was DIY was our bench we had guests sign which had been in my (the bride’s) family for decades. My father refinished it and prepped it for signing.
  • Q: What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
  • A: We actually did not know what any of our flowers would look like until the day of! We let our florist do what she thought was best after we visited her farm. She knew we wanted color and she went with what was in season and would match our linens. They were really important but it was so exciting to finally see how they turned out the day of. Our hexagon arch was covered in flowers and it was an amazing ceremony backdrop.
  • Q: Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
  • A: I picked my dress at Ava Lauren with my sisters, mother, and mother in law. I never expected to end up with princess dress but I did choose a large dress with a lot of beading, layers, and sequins. The shoes were full glitter (but low heel) Jimmy Choos. My rings are my favorite and they’re from a Coleman family jewelry store. His suit was from Generation Tux and he tried on quite a few until he picked out the color. We found the ties on Etsy and just loved the birds eating strawberries on the ties. The ties actually led us to incorporate a lot of green into the wedding.
  • Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
  • A: We met on Hinge! We had gone on a vacation to Amsterdam, and we decided to take a quick overnight trip to Prague. Chris proposed in between the Charles Bridge and Maines Bridge in the evening on the river. He almost dropped the ring in the Vltava river when he proposed!
  • Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
  • A: We did a first look and private vows which were a really special moment during the day. During the ceremony itself we had our nephew and best friend’s children all walk down the aisle with stuffed animals that look like our two dogs.
  • Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
  • A: We tell all of our friends to hire a wedding planner. Ours made our day run so smoothly and I can’t imagine having had a wedding without her.
