How did you meet? In your own words, tell us about your love story!

We met at church in Feb 2019. We were friends for about 4 months and only saw each other every now and then during our bible study sessions. I worked as a nurse at UCSD and he was a resident physician there at the time. But, we never really saw each other at the hospital. We both liked each other but did not really want to make a move yet when we saw each other at church events.

I organized a group social for our bible study in July 2019 and my phone number was in the email that I sent. Haran texted me after getting my email and we went on our first date on Aug 2, 2019. Rest is history haha

How did he/she propose? We want to know everything!

Haran bought a ring for me after eight months of dating and I knew he was going to eventually propose. I had already told him that I am not into big public proposals.

I love the Indian festival of lights (Diwali). Knowing this, Haran decorated the whole house with lights and wrote out “Marry Me, H <3 C” with Diwali lights. We lived in an apartment at the time that had stairs leading up to it. He decorated the stairs as well. I was coming back from my last night shift as an ICU nurse (I quit my job to go back to school). The proposal was such a surprise since I had no idea he would propose at home. It was really beautiful the way he did it. When I came into the apartment, I saw him on one knee with flowers and lights everywhere. It was a very sweet personal proposal.

What is your favorite thing about your fiancé? (both of you answer!)

Haran: Shared values, caring, smart, understanding, good communicator, fun, loyal

Carolin: I love that we can talk for hours and life is never boring with Haran. He is very passionate about what he does and is hardworking.

What is the most anticipated moment of your wedding day that you are most excited about?

Christian wedding ceremony. The bride’s uncle is officiating the ceremony. We are very close to Anil (the officiant) and the bride’s aunt. They have known us since our dating days.
