Jessica and Landon’s Colorful and Romantic Destination Wedding in the Okanagan Valley

Captured & submitted by Parsons Photography

Jessica & Landan held a micro-wedding/ eleopement in the picturesque Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. Their vineyard wedding overlooking the mountainous valley was decorated with chic, elegant, and joyful florals & personal touches. What we especially loved about their wedding was their focus on friends & family. Jessica’s sisters did her hair & makeup, and her mom helped her into her dress as well as setting up the flowers. It was a very relaxed and peaceful wedding day with this amazing couple.

Interview with Jessica & Landan about their experience having a destination micro-wedding in the Okanagan:

1) What is the story of you as a couple?

Landan and I met when we were seven years old in grade 2. I had just moved to Canada and Landan was always very nice to me! I had eventually moved schools and we lost touch until grade 9 when we became very quick friends. We stayed really close friends until we finally started dating at 16 and have been together ever since! Landan proposed on our last vacation to Las Vegas. He was so nervous all day and I could tell that he was planning something, but he had our room upgraded so we could see the Bellagio Fountains and got down on one knee. It was so personal and intimate!

2) What drew you to having a destination wedding?

We grew up in Calgary together and love it here, but we fell in love with our venue and everything about the package. We knew we didn’t want a huge wedding but we also didn’t want to elope, so our venue offered a micro wedding package which was everything we needed in such a beautiful area. By having a destination wedding, we could also spend a couple days before and after, just being with each other and our loved ones and catching up stress free.

3) What advice would you give to couples that are thinking of having a destination wedding, especially in the Okanagan?

Having a wedding in the Okanagan was beautiful and we could never have gotten the feel and atmosphere of what we wanted in Calgary, but it was hard. We didn’t really think about some of the details such as if we were flying we couldn’t bring our own vases on the plane, or the amount of family and friends we had to rely on to take things for us and support that way. But, Penticton especially, has so many amazing small businesses that supported us and did what they could to share tips and tricks, lend a hand where needed, or even just be available for phone calls to help coordinate. Also, our venue, See Ya Later Ranch was amazing thanks to Tara who was such a huge help! She knew insider tips and tricks and was always there to answer any questions and be a support.

4) What did you enjoy about your wedding day?

We loved everything about the day. From spending the morning with my family getting ready, to walking down the aisle and seeing Landan there, and just spending the rest of the evening surrounded by everyone we hold so closely. More guests than we thought were up and dancing with us, everyone was getting along so well, and we just got to be in the moment celebrating our relationship and our future. The wedding was everything we asked it to be!
