They came to Utah from Vegas on a quiet Christmas-season getaway, the kind of trip meant for slowing down and being together. Somewhere along the drive, Sarah fell asleep in the car, completely unaware of where they were headed or what was waiting for her.
When they arrived at the Bonneville Salt Flats, I was already there—standing out in a bright orange sweatshirt so Zech would spot me right away and know everything was set. As Sarah woke up and stepped out into the vast white landscape, the moment unfolded naturally and without rush. Their closest friends were there, watching from nearby, giving them space while still being part of something deeply meaningful.
I followed them out onto the flats, documenting the emotion as it happened—quiet reactions, laughter, happy tears, and the kind of joy that only comes when a moment is shared with the people who know you best. It was simple, intentional, and deeply personal, set against one of Utah’s most striking landscapes during the stillness of the holiday season.
