Couples looking for a wedding treat that doubles as part of the guest experience have another local option to consider. The Woolly Spoke, a Northern Virginia mobile cotton candy business founded by Genevieve Jin, brings live-spun cotton candy to weddings, cocktail hours, late-night snack service, pre-wedding celebrations, and other events.
The concept is familiar, but the presentation is designed for a more polished setting. The Woolly Spoke uses organic cane sugar, food-source flavoring with no dyes, paper cones, and mini bamboo tongs. Couples can choose between two cart styles and customize flavors, presentation, menus, toppings, and cart details to complement their celebration.

A Familiar Treat, Reimagined
“I built The Woolly Spoke around a clean, elevated version of cotton candy because cotton candy is a timeless treat that deserves better,” Jin said. “There is room for the original AND for a more refined sweet that aligns with the values of modern consumers.”
For weddings, customization can go well beyond choosing a flavor. Jin said couples can select fruit, seasonal, and traditional options, or request a custom flavor. The company has created flavors such as cheesecake, champagne, and butter. Finishing touches can include edible glitter, gold leaf, edible flowers, or an airbrushed monogram. “Our mobile service is fully customizable for our couples,” Jin said. “We have 2 different physical carts to choose from, both of which can be customized to fit the overall aesthetic of their pre-wedding celebration, reception, cocktail hour, or late night bite.”
Where It Can Fit Into the Wedding Day
The cart can work in several parts of a wedding. Couples might use it during cocktail hour, as a dessert alternative, as a late-night treat, or as an interactive favor guests can enjoy during the celebration.
The Woolly Spoke’s current website lists a Classic Cart package starting at $225 and a Bespoke Experience starting at $650. For weddings and other larger events, the company recommends booking two to three months in advance. The business serves Northern Virginia, the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, and surrounding markets.
What The Woolly Spoke Has Learned
Jin said The Woolly Spoke has completed 47 events so far this year. She said guests frequently notice small details such as the mini bamboo tongs and minimal ingredients. That feedback is also shaping what comes next. Jin said the business plans to add a customizable popcorn service in 2027 using American-grown kernels, refined coconut oil, and sweet and savory topping options.

Planning the Experience
For couples comparing dessert and guest-experience ideas, think about more than flavor. Consider where the treat will fit into the event, how long guests will have access to it, whether the setup complements the overall design, and whether it gives guests something memorable to do as well as eat.
