Courtney and Cody are country at heart, so when it came time to choose the perfect spot for their wedding there was no question, Cody’s grandma’s North Carolina farmhouse was it. Not only do the two keep their horses there and spend summer afternoons playing and swimming in the pond with their dog, Clint, but it’s also where the family gathers for Grandma’s home cooking every Sunday night and where Cody proposed to Courtney. They wanted the day to be as personal as possible and choosing their home away from home was the first step.
To keep things authentic, Courtney and Cody chose to highlight their wedding with as many local details and items borrowed or handed down from family members as possible. For snacks, they had popcorn and peanuts from vendors at the local farmer’s market and even made and canned strawberry jam from an old family recipe of Courtney’s to give away as favors. Courtney placed a “lucky penny” in her shoe that had been carried by the women in Cody’s family at weddings for generations and she wore her mother’s blue wedding garter. The personal touches made the celebration feel homey and warm, and their easy country style created an air of casual family fun!
