Amber and Rhode: A Match Made at Sea

Amber and Rhode met through mutual friends while they were both working on the USS George H.W. Bush in 2012 and after a year of great friendship the two realized they felt a spark between them and started dating. It wasn’t long before Rhode popped the question, he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Amber. The two had a lot of fun planning their wedding, because they didn’t sweat the small stuff. As Amber put it, “no matter what happens I will have my family and best friends with me so it will be perfect”!

They started by enlisting Amber’s grandfather to officiate their ceremony. It was a heartfelt moment that all of their guests were thrilled to be able to witness. It’s not every day that a grandfather gets to perform his granddaughter’s wedding ceremony!

Next, Amber and Rhode chose contrasting accent colors of coral and navy blue. Amber wore a navy blue ribbon at the waist of her traditional satin ball gown and her bridesmaids wore a pop of coral at the waistline of their navy blue gowns.  The flower girls were adorable in their contrasting coral dresses. Rhode and his groomsmen managed to get in a couple of hands of Texas Hold ‘Em after they donned their gray suits which were paired with navy blue ties and vests and pale pink boutonnieres.

For the reception, the ballroom was decked out in white linens with coral accent ribbons and the table settings were right on trend with gold chargers that added a pop of sparkle against navy blue napkins and minimalist florals. We just love the custom embroidered button-down shirts that Amber and her bridesmaids wore while they were getting their hair and makeup done. What a fun twist on traditional robes!
