Luciana and Guillermo: Love and the City

by Amy Serrago

Luciana and Guillermo are both finishing up medical school and will begin their residencies soon, but this busy couple didn’t want to wait to begin their life together as husband and wife. They planned an intimate ceremony at city hall in Lower Manhattan with their closest friends and family and they embraced their science nerdy-ness with a chemistry theme. Luciana said that since she and Guillermo were both “biochemistry majors and pre-med, the invitations were very geeky with periodic table elements, a formula, etc”. She added that the “flower vases for the reception were Erlenmeyer flasks and our favors were test tubes filled with Nerds candy.” We just love a good theme!

Luciana was breathtaking in her satin trumpet cut gown with its lacy bodice, sheer cap sleeves and sparkling beaded belt. She finished her look with a faux fur stole, lace peep-toe pumps and a classic bouquet of white roses. Guillermo was handsome in his navy blue suit which he paired with a pale blue tie and on his lapel, he pinned a single white rose boutonnière. Together they made the perfect urban bride and groom.

After the ceremony at city hall, the couple and their guests crossed the East River to Brooklyn where a simple reception at Il Fornetto restaurant awaited them. Tables inside the restaurant were decorated in Luciana and Guillermo’s chosen palette of blue and white and featured centerpieces of hydrangea, roses and carnations. Personalized napkins and party favors completed the decor and Luciana says the first dance was one of her favorite moments of the whole day. First though, they had to give some love to their amazing city with an absolutely stunning photo shoot on the streets of Brooklyn, captured expertly by Logan Roquemore Photography.
