Sarah and Chris met when Sarah was new to the Washington DC area. A mutual friend had invited her to join a recreational softball league so that she could meet people in her new hometown. She had just finished tying her cleats for a game at a field near the Washington Monument when she looked up and saw Chris. He was carrying twelve softball caps. Sarah says she thought Chris, “was an intense softball captain, but also very good looking with a great sense of humor.” The pair hit it off right away and started dating a month later. Five years after that, on a picnic at a vineyard in gorgeous Napa Valley, California Chris popped the question. Sarah, through a mouthful of sandwich, answered with a resounding yes! They chose to get married in the Shenandoah Valley at Faithbrooke Barn and Vineyards because its stunning mountain views reminded them of all the fun they had camping in the valley early in their relationship, and the vineyard was a nod to their wonderful engagement in Napa.
Sarah looked absolutely gorgeous in her fitted lace gown from BHLDN with its deep V neckline and sexy sheer bodice detailing. She loved that it was elegant but still comfy. We love the loose chignon and sparkling vintage-inspired accessories that completed her bridal styling. Her bridesmaids were in sage green, a color Sarah says was inspired by the surrounding landscape. Chris was dapper in his slim fit blue suit and he and his groomsmen wore ties that coordinated with the ladies’ dresses. The wedding party was perfectly styled for the outdoor ceremony which took place under an arbor of dark wood and lush greenery, all of which enhanced the rustic vibe of the day. The dear friend that first introduced them, Mark, served as their officiant and since Sarah comes from a Jewish family, the couple incorporated traditions like breaking the glass into their ceremony as well.
At the reception, the tables were set with sage green napkins on white linens and delicate centerpieces of local flowers, like sweet peas, snapdragons, and hydrangea. Sarah thought, “they really were the perfect touch that looked very natural among the vineyard and mountain backdrop.” To take advantage of the venue’s fire pit, a “s’mores kit” was placed at each guest’s seat. Sarah and Chris got the party started with a traditional good luck Hora and after dinner, there was more dancing and guests enjoyed relaxing by the fire or strolling through the venue’s gorgeous vineyards. Sarah and Chris wanted to make sure their guests got to experience what they love most about the Shenandoah Valley and Sarah was thrilled when everyone told her what an amazing time they’d had!
