Ansley and Hunter: A Rustic Wedding With a Personal Touch

by Amy Serrago

Ansley and Hunter chose the gorgeous Zimmerwald Estate in Ellenboro, NC for their barn wedding because its beautiful grounds, outdoor ceremony spot and rustic, farm-like charm allowed them to personalize their day. The couple brought their own flair to the design of their wedding through DIY projects and vintage accents. And they wrote their own vows, which they exchanged under a wooden arbor draped in florals and fabric with a vintage chandelier hung from its center. Wooden signage led guests to their seats where they watched under a cloudless early summer sky as Ansley and Hunter shared their first kiss as husband and wife before posing for portraits outside the rough-hewn wooden barn.

Ansley was gorgeous in her A-line gown with its flowing chiffon skirting and vintage-inspired beaded lace bodice. She finished her look with a long veil and carried a bouquet of lush hydrangea. Her bridesmaids looked pretty in their light turquoise gowns with chiffon skirts that mimicked Ansley’s, as did their hydrangea bouquets. Hunter and his groomsmen were dapper in dark gray suits with turquoise bow ties and hydrangea boutonnières.

The turquoise theme carried through to the reception where Ball jars in the color served as vases for the all white floral arrangements and wooden accents completed the centerpieces. Turquoise napkins lined the baskets of flavored popcorn Ansley and Hunter served as snacks and the Polaroid camera for the guest book shared the shade. After dinner, guests were treated to a vast dessert table filled with personal favorites of the bride and groom lovingly prepared by their moms and Ansley’s grandma. Guests were encouraged to share their pics on social media using the couple’s personalized hashtag and a corner of the barn was set aside for a photo tribute to family members who have passed. The couple’s favorite genre, Country, was the music of choice on the dance floor and outside a fire roared in the pit where all the fixings for s’mores were provided. When it came time to say goodnight, Ansley and Hunter were honored with a celebratory sparkler send off as they went off to start their honeymoon. Congratulations you two!
