From the beginning, Brie and Bobby knew they wanted to have destination wedding. They wanted their big day to be one that their guests, who were traveling from both San Diego and Philadelphia, would truly enjoy and always remember. They conferred with their families and when Key West was proposed the decision was easy. Brie says, “we knew Key West would take care of them, we just needed to provide the open bar, good food and music!” They didn’t want a beach wedding, so when they found the Hemingway House everything fell into place. Brie and Bobby didn’t have a set theme in mind or a “must have” color palette and neither one of them is religious, but they instantly fell in love with the amazingly lush backdrop the ceremony space at Hemingway House provided them.
Brie was gorgeous in her fitted lace gown, which she first saw on Pinterest, but later discovered at a shop near her home in California. She was psyched that she would get to try it on before she bought it and loved that it had so many of the features she had dreamed of and it was comfortable. “It was perfect really, stretchy, comfortable and yet really beautiful”, says Brie. We could agree more, we love the gown’s unique look and the turquoise statement necklace that Brie paired it with its and absolute knockout. Her bridesmaids stood out in their cheerful yellow gowns, making their white anemone and palm leaf bouquets pop! Bobby went with Brie’s suggestions when it came to his styling, but this fun loving couple agreed that blue was the perfect color and a laid back, tie-less look fit the venue flawlessly. His groomsmen followed suit and all the guys wore brown leather accessories.
For the reception’s design, Brie trusted her florist, Monika from Duarte’s Floral Design, whole heartedly. And as Brie says, “she nailed it! At one point I told her ‘just do what you think is best’ and she replied ‘but I want to make sure you like it’. She and her staff made the most beautiful bouquets I could have asked for”. The tablescapes were just the right combination of modern and rustic to compliment the Hemingway House’s history, with monochromatic florals and plenty of greenery. Details like lanterns and travel themed table numbers completed the decor and Bobby wrote a welcome letter to guests that sat in a vintage typewriter as an homage to the home’s literary past. After dinner, Brie and Bobby got the party started on the dance floor and their guests were quick to join in. The newlyweds were all smiles all day, their joy set the tone and truly made them the life of the party. Congratulations Brie and Bobby!
