Ansley and Bobby’s St. Simons Island Destination Wedding

by Amy Serrago

Ansley and Bobby met in high school and had always been great friends. Ansley describes Bobby as “the shy guy who hardly talked”, but somehow they always found themselves “lost in conversation”. Saying, “he caught my eye from the very beginning with his gentlemanly charm and kindness”. Because their hometowns were three hours apart, they never considered dating. They even lost touch for a few years, only to reconnect during their sophomore year of college and from the moment they did, they knew they would spend the rest of their lives together. When they got engaged they wanted an intimate ceremony with “an unforgettable party after” and chose St. Simons Island in Georgia because it was where they went on their first trip as a couple. They exchanged vows under a tree decorated with hanging glass orbs filled with purple hydrangea and included a tree planting unity ritual in the ceremony officiated by Ansley’s uncle.

When Ansley was in the bridal shop, she was torn between two gowns. One that she says was the gown she had envisioned all her life, the other, classically simple. As she stood in front of the mirror wearing the simply stunning lace gown by Justin Alexander her exact words were, “this dress makes me feel like Bobby makes me feel.” And the choice was made. She was absolutely gorgeous, pairing her gown with a long veil and dangling, vintage inspired earrings. Bobby was handsome in a gray three piece suit and white tie and their wedding party’s color of choice was purple. They had just their siblings as attendants. Ansley’s sister wore a purple gown and Bobby’s brothers wore gray suits and purple ties. Even the family dog got in the act with a purple bow tie of his own!

Handwritten custom signage, purple accents and personal photos were the focus of the reception decor and touches like the wooden pallet DJ booth added rustic charm. After some photo ops at the top of the St. Simons Lighthouse, Ansley, Bobby and their guests had an amazing night celebrating and rocking out on the dance floor, but the next day was all about the newlyweds. They wanted to make sure that the hustle and bustle of their wedding day didn’t keep them from getting amazing portraits, so they scheduled a private photo shoot on Driftwood beach where their photographer, Sunny Lee, captured some truly romantic images of the two of them. Congratulations Ansley and Bobby!
