Katie and Brian’s Handcrafted Mountain Wedding

by Amy Serrago

Katie moved from Philly to Portland after a long recovery from brain surgery. She was ready for change in her life. Upon moving west she found what she’d been missing, mountain adventures, a thriving art business and Brian – the love of her life. The pair met on a camping trip in the amazing Pacific Northwest and they’ve been hiking, camping and climbing together ever since. Katie and Brian chose to tie the knot at Pendarvis Farms, a sprawling property in the mountains of Oregon with an absolutely breathtaking, wooded ceremony site and unobstructed views of the mountains that are so gorgeous they look painted on! After they exchanged vows and rings (that Katie had designed) the happy couple had fun posing for portraits at the top of the world.

Katie designed her own dress which was she had made by Cocoon Silk in Portland. She was beautiful in her romantic creation with its white vintage lace bodice and flowing sky blue skirting. She finished her look with a chignon with sparkling floral embellishment and a bright bouquet of wildflowers in shades of pink, peach and purple with blue thistle accents. Her bridesmaids wore cocktail dresses varying shades of blue and her sweet doggie got in the act with a floral collar. Brian was handsome in his electric blue suit and his groomsmen were dapper in gray. All of the guys wore pale blue ties and single flower boutonnières.

For the reception decor, Katie put her artistic talents to work. She designed and crafted nearly every detail of her wedding decor. From the floral centerpieces to the signage to the bridesmaids’ jewelry – every detail was made with love. Tables were set under an open air tent with white linens and blue napkins and festive garland was draped from the ceiling. The boho-chic vibe was enhanced by wildflowers arranged in beakers and hand painted bottles and Katie and Brian’s head table was brimming with a lush runner of greenery and blue thistle with pops of pink florals. Guests had fun toasting marshmallows for s’mores and as the sun set over the mountains, Katie and Brian found a secluded spot in the woods to capture some truly stunning couple’s portraits. Congratulations Katie and Brian!
