Victoria and Charles: Rustic Charm in an Historic Carriage House

by Amy Serrago

Victoria and Charles’s wedding day started with an unplugged ceremony in a bright and cheerful chapel. At the entrance, a gilded frame draped in greenery and white florals welcomed guests to be “fully present” with the happy couple by turning off all of their devices, a practice that has become more and more common at weddings. The couple was surrounded by friends and family and their wedding altar was flanked by two large floral arrangements featuring white hydrangea and snapdragons. After their first kiss as husband and wife, Victoria and Charles posed for portraits on the grounds of their historic venue, the Goodwood Museum & Gardens in Tallahassee, FL where lush trees dripping with Spanish moss created the perfect backdrop.

Victoria, a former Miss Florida runner-up, was stunning in her fitted lace gown with its court train and sexy sheer back details. She finished her look with large, sparkling earrings and a long veil for added drama. Her bridesmaids were dazzling in vintage-inspired Adrianna Papell gowns in blush with glittering beaded detailing and all of the ladies carried classic white floral bouquets. Charles and his groomsmen were handsome in black suits with straight black ties and each gentleman pinned a single white rose boutonnière to his lapel.

At the reception, which took place in the museum’s historic carriage house, white florals and gold accents took center stage and fun details, like mismatched candlesticks and small floral vases, completed the decor. More tables were set outside the carriage house and there were several lounge areas set throughout the space, both inside and out. Guests were invited to mingle and enjoy an array of Victoria and Charles’s favorite foods, like shrimp and grits and chicken corn chowder. The floral designer brought in two large blooming trees, bursting with delicate white flowers, to flank the dance floor and a crystal chandelier hung high above the space. Hundreds of twinkle lights cast a romantic glow as Victoria and Charles shared their first dance as husband and wife and dessert featured banana pudding in addition to cake. When it was time to say goodnight, guests saw the newlyweds off, sparklers in hand. Congratulations Victoria and Charles!
