Huddy and Mike’s Oceanside Autumn Wedding

by Amy Serrago

Huddy and Mike, both lawyers, met while training for a non-profit organizing job. Two weeks later, Huddy moved across the country to work in Denver. Mike called her every day for nine months. That’s when they decided it was time to make their relationship “official”. They were together for nearly six years before they tied the knot in a naturally elegant autumn-themed wedding at the Nonantum Resort in Maine. Their day started with first looks on the beach before their outdoor ceremony facing the Kennebunk River. Huddy’s mom built their beautiful wedding arbor by hand. She and Huddy found branches to decorate it and added the crystals from her grandmother’s chandelier as accents.

Huddy was gorgeous in the gown she describes as “rustic but elegant, with a splash of hippie”. Its unique, deco-inspired lace made it a total show stopper and Huddy wore fall toned flowers in her hair to celebrate autumn. Mike was handsome in a dark gray suit topped with a cool orange paisley tie and the wedding party was decked out in an array of fall colors. The vibrantly colored bouquets featured dahlias, in memory of Huddy’s sister and the autumn color story carried right over into the reception decor.

The DIY centerpieces featured colorful florals and fall accents like mini gourds. Huddy, with her mom and brother, cut all the birchwood slices from a fallen tree she found in the woods and her mom crafted the unique signage and decor. After a classic “New England” supper, the newlyweds served five types of pies from their favorite bakery. Huddy says that “the wedding came together like a dream”, hitting the perfect balance between nature and “Mike’s love for the finer things”. We couldn’t agree more. Congratulations Huddy and Mike!
