Caitlin and Chris’s Bohemian Wine Country Wedding

by Amy Serrago

Caitlin and Chris went to the same law school and met while they were prepping for the bar. Even though Chris had planned for months to ask Caitlin out she says that when he finally did she had to question his judgment. “I was two solid months into bar review, which means I had on no makeup and I hadn’t shaved my legs, washed my hair or changed my clothes.” But ask he did and the rest is history!

Both Caitlin and Chris come from large families, so at first, they started planning a huge wedding in their home state of New York. Caitlin says the stress was overwhelming! So, they scrapped that idea and chose to have an intimate destination wedding in Sonoma, CA. Which is where they got engaged. Their day started with a boho-chic ceremony overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Caitlin wanted a non-traditional dress, something backless and blue. It took a bit of detective work, but she found her dream dress and looked absolutely stunning in it! She paired it with silver accessories and a whimsical flower crown. Chris says he was inspired by Paul Rudd’s character in “I Love You Man” when he chose his blue suit. He was totally dapper and he and his bride made a fashionable pair!

Caitlin and Chris threw the traditional wedding ceremony concept out the window and personalized their union with the help of friends and family. Caitlin’s brother played acoustic guitar and a close friend officiated. They even incorporated a pagan hand-tying ritual that their mothers performed. After their first married kiss, Caitlin, Chris and their guests hopped a bus and went tasting at two different wineries. And for dinner, they shared a family-style farm-to-table feast under the setting California sun. Congratulations you two!
