Amaya and Theo met on Amaya’s first day of college. Theo was her freshman orientation leader. However, they fell out of touch until the summer before her junior year. Both were active in Greek life and once they were back on campus, they started dating. As Amaya puts it, they’ve “never looked back”!
Theo proposed at Christmas while the couple was playing “guess your Christmas character” with the whole family. Unbeknownst to Amaya, Theo had assigned her the character “wife”. She didn’t guess correctly, but when Theo got down on one knee the whole thing made sense. And of course, she said yes!
Amaya and Theo wanted their brunch wedding to feel like “a breath of fresh air”. So, they made the floor to ceiling windows at the Uptown Charlotte Mint Museum the focal point of their decor. They exchanged vows beside them while a lush greenery wreath hung above them. Meanwhile, lucite chairs and floating candles brought a sense of “peace and calmness” to the space.
Amaya was stunning in her lace mermaid cut gown with its sweetheart neckline and multi-tiered skirting. Theo was dapper in his black and white tux. At the same time, the wedding party was glamorous in all black while the ladies sparkled in sequins. The reception decor had a classic black, white and gold color palette and floating candles, again, enhanced the airy feel. During brunch, Amaya’s sorority sisters and Theo’s frat brothers paid tribute to the newlyweds. After that, the dance floor was packed all afternoon. Congratulations Amaya and Theo!
