A Ray of Sunshine was inspired by the color yellow and something Tira, the owner of Tira Lynn Events a boutique wedding and events planning company in Baltimore, MD had been wanting to feature for over a year. The concept was to show couples that you could be bright, bold, and flirty, yet still have elegance to your event. The shoot was originally scheduled for April 2020 before COVID erupted and shut the world down. And before the announcement of the Pantone 2021 Color of the Year. Yellow is an underused color and its brightness can be overwhelming if you do not incorporate it properly. However, the right balance of the color can lend to a bright and fun day!
Therefore, we incorporated fun elements to shoot such as the bicycle, adorned in a variation of yellow florals. We added cake popsicles and bright cocktails from a local non- alcoholic mixer company based in Baltimore, MD. Beau Décor did not skip a beat, as they balanced the florals with other added colors such as corals, pinks, and orange. The missing tier cake, provided by Cakes by Lala was positioned outdoors and stood alone where its base was drenched in yellow florals.
The shoot was held at The Liriodendron Mansion in Belair, MD. The day of the shoot was beautiful, although a little windy, the sun was bright and beautiful on this day. The photographer Kenny Clapp or Clapp Studios and cinematographer, Chrissy of Forever Cottman Films captured a beautiful love story.
We showcased elegant, yet simple wedding gowns from Elite Secrets Bridal. And the guys wore gray colored suits from Christopher Schafer Clothier, with subtle touches of yellow in the ties.
When it came to the décor, we used linen from BBJ Linen to add texture and not fight against the bold colors. We included napkins with a yellow design and placed with the handmade plating by Something Vintage Rentals, as well as clear lucent flatware and yellow goblets. We topped the plates with menu cards that the talented Type A Invitations created in a swell press, that matched the invitation suite that had a bold envelope liner. And to top the table setting off, we finished it with the white velour chairs trimmed in gold from Nostalgia Event Rental. Hair stylist Tracy of House of Lady and makeup artist Taylor, of Taylor Simpson Artistry did an amazing job on both of the female models.
This shoot fun and flirty and will definitely bring a smile to your face.
