This couple met in college, and there was something special between them from the start. Here’s more about their love story and their wonderful wedding!

How did you two meet/start dating?

We met on Bumble while we were in school at the University of South Carolina! Hunter swiped right first and used his 24 hr extension on me. Once I swiped right, I messaged him and we instantly formed a special connection! We went on our first date about a week or so later and the rest was history!

How long have you been engaged?

We were engaged for about 11 months before our original wedding date of March 27, 2020. When Covid happened, we still got married in front of friends and family on our original date, but we postponed the big wedding to March 5, 2021. From proposal to the big wedding day was 23 months!

Describe your wedding day’s theme and style in the way YOU picture it:

We would probably call our wedding theme “rustic elegance”. We both really like nature, landscapes, and wooden elements so we knew that we wanted to capitalize on the raw beauty that Boone Hall offered. Since the venue spoke for the “nature” aspect of our vision, we used gold and champagne accents to achieve an elegant/classy look. It turned out perfect!

What are your wedding day’s colors?

Our color palette was dusty blue and sage/natural green with champagne, gold, and blush accents!

The Location

We got married at Boone Hall in Charleston, South Carolina. Hunter and I are both from South Carolina, but different parts. Our family is also pretty spread out so we knew no matter what, some people would have to travel! I grew up going to Charleston multiple times a year for vacations and to see friends and family, and of course, it is BEAUTIFUL, so we knew that Charleston would be a perfect “meeting spot” to have our wedding!

We chose Boone Hall sight unseen! We lived in Texas at the time so we sent my parents and sister to check out a few venues. We knew that the Avenue of the Oaks and the Cotton Dock were perfect for us! We both like nature and beautiful landscaping, so it was a no-brainer!

Tell Us About Your Ceremony and Reception Decor

Our ceremony took place in front of the Avenue of the Oaks at Boone Hall, so honestly, not much décor was needed – it was beautiful already! We did have a few aisle planters for floral, a petal toss for our guests to toss as we were introduced as husband and wife, and we had a floral installation on the gates!

The reception was BEAUTIFUL! We had a beautiful bar setup with a wallpaper design on the front part of the bar. I’m so glad we added that last minute, it was beautiful! I also made a bar sign with our sweet pup, Leila on it! She was our flower pup for our first wedding and we knew we wanted to find a special way for her to be a part of the second one too. We had linens in shades of blue and white, floral elements, gold votives and accents, candles, and a few custom elements! We had custom koozies, a wooden letter “Y” with our wedding date on it to hang on the fireplace mantle, a custom wooden guestbook sign, a beautiful chandelier, and café lights! One of my favorite last-minute adds was the “Better Together” neon sign on one of the blank walls. It really made a statement!
