Kaytee and Spencer's Surprise Proposal at Zion National Park

Kaytee and Spencer’s Surprise Proposal at Zion National Park

This was a surprise proposal that took place in Zion National Park. Spencer contacted me a few months before their trip to Utah. His girlfriend’s sons have never seen snow so the goal was to see a few of Utah’s national parks and snow up near Cedar City. After New Years they made their way down to Zion for the last couple of days.

Our plan for this surprise proposal was to go on a hike to Zion Overlook where I (the photographer) would place flower bouquet for Spencer. That was the spot where he was supposed to propose to Kaytee. The ring was very special to both of them. Kaytee’s friend helped Spencer pick it a year ago around New Year’s Eve, but unfortunately she ended dup passing away. Unbeknownst to Kaytee’s knowledge Spencer ended up buying that ring anyway and but waited a year for this special moment.

Few things about planning a proposal on Zion Overlook Trail to remember: this trail is very crowded so it’s important to plan it on a weekday and ideally early in the morning. The trail goes above some cliffs so if you have fear of heights keep that in mind. The very end of the trail is this gorgeous overlook looking down canyon, good hiking shoes and safe distance at the overlook are important for safe and enjoyable experience.
