Real Brides & Weddings: Jessica & Aina

Jessica and Aina were married on Dec. 6, 2025, on Oahu. Here’s their story.

Tell us how you met, your engagement, etc.

Aina and I met through a mutual friend and became friends first. We were inseparable for a full year, always together, talking, laughing, and doing life side by side, until we both realized we wanted more.

What started as a strong friendship naturally turned into something deeper, and that foundation is still our favorite part of our story.

Three years later, Aina proposed on the same beach where he first asked me to officially be his girlfriend. My parents and his family were there, which made the moment even more meaningful. Our best friend Krista captured our engagement photos, and then a year later, when we got married, she was there again—taking our wedding photos too.

It felt full circle in the best way, surrounded by the people who have been part of our story from the beginning.

Three words that describe your wedding:

Simple, Intentional, Intimate.

Wedding Colors:

Light green, ocean blue, and natural color from the already beautiful island.

Describe the dress you chose and the moment you knew it was the one.

Simple and timeless. Tried on one wedding dress and I immediately knew it was the one. It’s me in a dress.

Describe the first dance.

We chose to not have a first dance, but Aina played Ukulele with his dad. So, we had a first “song,” you could say.

What local vendors did you use?

Island Boy

Advice for other brides

Make your wedding about you and your person—it’s for you, not anyone else. Your wedding should reflect who you are as a couple, not expectations or outside opinions. It’s so easy to get lost in the planning, the details, and the pressure, and in the process the true meaning can get pushed aside.

We chose to keep things simple and intentional, and it turned out more beautiful than we could have ever imagined.
