Sarah and Matt’s Unique and Intimate Museum Wedding

by Amy Serrago

Sarah and Matt met on their first day at work and went through their company’s orientation program together. They were great friends for nearly a year before they started dating. When they decided to tie the knot they knew they wanted something unique for their close friends and family. Sarah says, “we wanted the whole thing to be a big party for everyone”. They chose the fun and quirky Museum of Life and Science in Durham, North Carolina for its outdoor ceremony space, tented reception pavilion and, of course, dinosaur statues!

Sarah was gorgeous in her classic ballgown with its sweetheart neckline and flowing tiered skirting. She finished her look with a simple pair of diamond earrings and floral embellishments in her hair. Her bridesmaids wore burgundy gowns in different styles to highlight each lady’s unique beauty and her bouquet was a stunning mix of succulents, roses and mums in shades of blush, burgundy and white. Matt was handsome in his blue suit, which he paired with a burgundy tie and his groomsmen were dapper in gray.

During the cocktail hour, guests were invited to take a trolley ride or visit the butterfly house and the animal encounters exhibit was open as well. They could grab a cocktail and mingle while exploring the unique venue Sarah and Matt had chosen. The reception decor stuck right with the museum theme by highlighting different scientific disciplines with fun centerpieces that included dinosaurs for paleontology, a microscope for biology and a mini globe for geography. Placed alongside, were vases filled with delicate floral arrangements in the burgundy and blush color scheme, perfect for early fall. Sarah, Matt and their 50 guests enjoyed dining and dancing in the open air of a perfect night while posting their pics of the evening’s festivities to a special hashtags. When it was time to say goodnight, Sarah and Matt exited with a fun sparkler send off. Congratulations you two!
